Los Santos Wind Project
In the mountainous region of Costa Rica, where wind is a constant force, the Los Santos Wind Project not only generates renewable electricity—it also drives social development. Managed by the Coopesantos cooperative, this wind farm was designed with a participatory and community-centered approach.
The project includes 15 wind turbines with a total installed capacity of 12.75 MW, enabling the generation of 20,000 MWh of clean energy annually. This electricity supplies nearly one-third of the cooperative’s demand, reaching 50,000 people across more than 11,000 households.
Anaconda Carbon was responsible for managing the registration and issuance of carbon credits under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) and the Gold Standard, ensuring that every ton of CO₂ avoided is thoroughly audited and documented.
